About Livestock Prices Kenya
This website tracks livestock market prices across Kenya, combining three public data pipelines - KAMIS, NDMA and FEWS NET - into one normalized, freshness-tracked dataset that anyone can browse or download.

Freshness policy
≤2 months meets the project target · slightly old within ~3 months · stale older - shown so outdated data is never hidden.
Method & caveats
- KAMIS has no official API - the ingester uses its public search/export endpoints, offset-paginated. Rows with "test" markets are dropped.
- NDMA figures are parsed from bulletin prose (monthly county averages; some bulletins list sample-market prices, which are captured individually). Long-term averages and previous-month comparisons are excluded by heuristics.
- FEWS NET prices are as-published (usually one cattle category and goats for Kenya).
- Only wholesale/first quoted price is charted; compare within the same unit (KES/head vs KES/kg vs KES/litre).
- Coverage is honest, not complete: hundreds of informal markets still have no structured public data. Full coverage would need a field collection network (e.g. with KLMC/LMAs).
